Three elderly people have lost their lives as a result of a fire that broke out at a hospital overnight in the town of Tivoli, near Rome, Italian media reported on Saturday.
Another lifeless body was found in the hospital morgue that was filled with flames, San Giovanni Evangelista, but that victim is believed to have died before the fire broke out around 1100 Friday, Italy's news agency Ansa reported.
The fire brigade managed to remove about 200 people from the hospital building, including a pregnant woman and many children.
evacuees were sent to other hospitals in parts of Rome for treatment.
The dead were two men and a woman between 76 and 86 years of age, according to local media.
The fire brigade announced it has completely gone through the fire and that it has launched an investigation to learn its cause. /rel
