EU mediator for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue Miroslav Lajcak has made a chronology of the meetings he has held in recent days, one of whom has been with Germany's special envoy for the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin, who said he has offered a update on the state of Dialogue. It has also shown that there has been a meeting with Chancellor Sholz's adviser, who is involved in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
Lajcak informs that, together with EU Law Rule Mission chief in Kosovo General Barbano, he has addressed the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Commission, “for recent developments in northern Kosovo and progress made in the EU facilitated dialogue”.
The meetings held during the week, he described them as useful.
His complete scripture:
I closed this week in Slovakia, where I spoke at the annual G forum LOBSEC Chateau Béla for the current dynamic in Western EU-Balkan relations and the new moment for expansion. Early this week, I traveled to Bucharest, where I attended a European Council for External Relations event focused on the future of EU enlargement. The talks also discussed the normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, which is crucial to both European routes. In the margins of the event, I had a constructive exchange for the current situation in Dialog, as well as regional dynamics with Romania's Foreign Minister Lumin '%a Odobescu. I am very grateful for Romania's support for my work and its active engagement in the Western Balkans.
During the past two weeks, I have attended two more conferences, one in Tangier and another in Thessaloniki. In Morocco, I addressed the audience on “Dragmentation, polarization and multilaterism topics: Sailing peace into a broken world”, as well as nuclear “, the Atomic War Prevention and Prevention Theory: Coping with Global Threats and (re) teaching Cold War” in # MEDAYS2023. Stressing the urgency of recalling our approach to global challenges, I called for a holistic approach to lasting peace, including increasing investments in prevention diplomacy. In Greece, I joined the annual Thessaloniki Summit, organised by Delphi Forum. By engaging in a lively discussion, we explore the European future of the Western Balkans in the present complex geopolitical landscape.
Upon returning to Brussels, I held productive meetings with government representatives with European Affairs Minister Maida Gorchevic and Interior Minister Danilo Sharanovic. Our discussions focused on Montenegro's commitment to integration, stressing the need to stay on the course of EU reforms.
I also met with Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen to talk about dialogue and renewed impetus to make the prospect of the Western Balkans a reality.
Welcoming Germany's special envoy for the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin, in Brussels, discussed the region's latest developments and I offered an update on the state of dialogue.
Along with the chief of the EU Mission for Rule of Law in Kosovo, General Barbano, I addressed the European Parliament's Commission for Foreign Affairs for recent developments in northern Kosovo and the progress made in the EU-launched dialogue.
In the middle of the week, I began a short trip to Berlin, where I met with Jens Ploetner, German Chancellor Scholz's Foreign Ministry Council of Foreign Affairs Council.
In the midst of my busy agenda in Brussels, I was pleased to accept an invitation from the Slovak Permanent Delegation to NATO to be a guest speaker in their podkast, DayNATO! We deepened in security developments in the Balkans and my professional journey. Our conversation took a easier tone mixed with humor a refreshing departure from the usual formalization of my commitments.
