Rabbi Alhantoul, Palestine's ambassador to Montenegro, has explained why his state does not recognise Kosovo's independence.
He's in an interview for the “showCalxo Pernimes”, when asked about this, said that “What do you say we turn the question around a little bit? Why didn't Kosovo recognise Palestine?
I'll tell you the answer to your questions. We as Palestinian people are fighting for our freedom, demanding that our rights be restored, to have an independent state of Palestine with East Jerusalem as the capital based on the UN resolution. This was the biggest compromise we made in 1988 when we accepted the two-state settlement, giving up over 70% of our historic territory and agreed to have only 27% of historic Palestine”, the Palestinian ambassador to Montenegro said.
Palestine's ambassador has added that Kosovo's leadership has condemned the October 7th attack, but on the other side said nothing about killing Palestinian children.
Do you see what your politicians in Kosovo are doing, expressing their relationship with Israel and the US? I mean, your president, your prime minister condemned the October 7th attack and said nothing about any of the 3,700 Palestinian children killed, massacred in Gaza, and they were not told a single word”, said Alhantoul, Ambassador of Palestine to Montenegro.
He also said he knows the people of Kosovo.
“That's why I explained to you and the reason why there is no recognition, but can you ask your leadership why they are not familiar with Palestine?”, he said further.
I'm going to tell you that this is the reason, because we're living, unfortunately, I want to say that every normal person would expect from the Kosovo leadership who was fighting for their self-rule to co-operate, to understand, to draw the similarities. But unfortunately we're living in a world where you can find less and less principled principles and politicians. All are going after the interests of short-term visions and this is not functioning”, the Palestinian ambassador said. /Kallex/
