Pope Francis has suggested that he may be open to bless the bond of equal gender in the Catholic Church.
Responding to a group of cardinals who have asked him to clarify this issue, he has said that any request for a blessing should be addressed with <x0 pastorial fit”.
“We cannot be judges who just deny, challenge and exclude”, he said.
However, the Pope has said that the Church is still regarded as the relationship between persons of the same gender as <x0 sin>” and still does not know the marriage of such ones.
This has been one of many requests addressed to the pope at a meeting with participants from around the world to discuss the future of the Church.
In the Catholic Church, the blessing is the prayer of a church official who prays to God to see that person with kindness, or those who are blessed.
Bishops in several countries, including Belgium and Germany, have begun to allow priests to bless couples of the same gender, but the church's official position remains unclear.
