The Israeli Army on Friday called on all civilians in the city of Gaza to evacuate “southbound”, while continuing its bombings in the coastal enclave in response to Hamas' terrorist attacks that killed more than 1,200 people.
“The IDF calls for the evacuation of all Gaza city civilians from their homes south for their security and protection and to move to the south area of Wadji Gaza”, Israeli Defence Forces say in a statement.
The United Nations warned on Thursday that an Israeli military order to evacuate the entire population of 1.1 million in northern Gaza south of the besieged enclave was the impossible “” without causing major humanitarian consequences.
In her statement Friday, The IDF said the evacuated civilians will be able to return to the town of Gaza “only when another announcement is made that allows it”.
Hamas' “Terrorists are hiding in the city of Gaza inside the tunnels under the house and within the crowded buildings of innocent Gaza civilians”, the IDF said, claiming Hamas' militants “are using” Gaza civilians such as “the human submburja”.
Israel has collected more than 300,000 militias along its southern border with Gaza, but has not confirmed whether it is planning an intensified military operation.
More than 1,500 people have been killed in Gaza, according to the Palestinian health ministry. Air strikes have also displaced hundreds of thousands of people.
