Five Western officials will pay visits to Kosovo and Serbia today, with the main goal of resurrecting dialogue between the two countries.

Thus has the European Union justified its envoy's visits to the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, along with US envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar, and senior officials from France, Emmanuel Bonne, Germany, Jens Ploter and Italy, Francesco Talo, in Pristina and Belgrade.

EU spokesperson for foreign policy and security Peter Stano has confirmed on Tuesday that EU Special Representative for Dialogue Mirolslav Lajcak, accompanied by senior advisers of leaders of Germany, France, Italy and the United States of America, will travel on 21 October to Kosovo and Serbia to meet with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq.

The aim of this visit is to achieve concrete progress in implementing the agreement on the road to normalisation and extension following recent developments”, spokesman Peter Stano has said.

“The EU and member states, as well as the United States of America, remain great supporters of the process of normalising reports between Kosovo and Serbia, and the European future of the entire region. We have clear expectations from the parties to continue the normalisation process and conduct without delay and unconditionally their” obligations, Stano has said.

Otherwise, after meeting between the leaders of the European Union and the president of the United States last night, Joe Biden, the European Union and Washington have issued a joint communique where, among other things, they give a message about Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.

In the communique issued after Summit B E-US held today in Washington, it is said that it is necessary for Kosovo and Serbia to urgently escalate tensions and implement the agreement to normalise reports and return to dialogue.

“We reaffirm our common commitment to stability in the Western Balkans and our support for the EU perspective of the region. All partners must continue to make the reforms necessary to progress on their European path. We stress the need for Kosovo* and Serbia to urgently de-proportionate tensions and implement the agreement swiftly and unconditionally on the road to normalising their relations and returning to the EU-launched dialogue”, the communiqué says.

Meanwhile, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said yesterday there can be no normalisation of reports with Serbia, without security in Kosovo.

These comments Kurti made during an event in Shtime, when asked what is expected from Kosovo during the visit of five international representatives on 21 October.

“What they're looking for and what they're going to offer and find out tomorrow. I can say that we cannot have secure normalisation and Kosovo's security should be a priority even for state institutions, for people and society”, Kurti said.
