According to the announcement released on October 18th, they are allegedly given increased hormone drugs to patients who do not need them, and they have caused more than 680 thousand euros in damage to the Republika Serbia Health Insurance Fund.
According to the announcement, after the pre-investigative procedure on Serbia's territory, Mr.S., O.S., M.J., S.Z. and S.Z. have been arrested as suspected of committing criminal acts of conspiracy, abuse of official position and abuse of the responsible person's position between November 2018 and July 2021.
It is said that six suspects from two linked criminal groups have pleaded guilty and reached agreement with the Prosecutor and that the Court has admitted it.
The prosecution added that one group consisted of four doctors at the Post August Health House, and seven other pharmacists from Belgrade, Kragujevci and Mitrovica and Sremim.
The first “provided prescriptions without proper examinations, to be then sent to members of the second group who took drugs to the drug ward without the knowledge of the patients for whom prescriptions were described”, the prosecution reported.
Health institutions in predominantly Serb municipalities in Kosovo work under the Serbian system, and Kosovo Serbs have Serbian health insurance, so they also use the benefits of free medicines.
