Shala for Kurti's bid to add KFOR: It has depreciated institutions, police have capacities

The recognition of security issues, Drizan Shala, is considering that Prime Minister Albin Kurti, at the request made, has depreciated the country's institutions in Kosovo. He said Kurti had made this request earlier at the meeting he had with KFOR commander in Kosovo and with the chief [...]

He said Kurti had made this request earlier at the meeting he had had with KFOR commander in Kosovo and with EULEX chief, but according to him, KFOR after assessing the situation on the field has considered the number of their soldiers to be added.

“As far as Kurti's made public request was made, because the request was made at the meeting that has been held between KFOR commander and EULEX chief who was held in the Kosovo Government that has been held in the Government of Kosovo in terms of the situation in the north, since then the prime minister has filed a request towards the KFOR commander to increase the number of forces in the <x>.

KFOR's <x0.>Comandant has taken his request further to European Command, where a Fed-Back directed to the KFOR commander who estimates to increase numbers in the field and determines the KFOR commander according to information from the field. It is known that NATO and KFOR with mandates under the UN do not recognise Kosovo's institutions but only recognise them as a security party, so in this context we can say that the commander of KFOR has seen unreasonable numbers of troops on the ground based on what is a sufficient number of 3 thousand military officials”, he told Online Economy,

Shala said that with the public making of that request Prime Minister Kurti has depreciated Kosovo institutions, because according to him, police have enough capacity to deal with any situation.

The question is that the situation is fragile regardless of whether we have a pause on the issue in the northern context, the situation is monitored by the international but local mechanism. In addition to the fact that the prime minister has made a public request already, I think it has depreciated the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, because we have the Kosovo police that has enough capacity to deal with any situation that conflicts with public safety and national security”, he concluded.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, for the German newspaper Die Welte, called on NATO to increase the number of peacekeeping forces in Kosovo following recent tensions.

At NATO's mission in Kosovo, KFOR, currently number over 3700 troops, out of 27 countries in the world. NATO forces deployed in Kosovo after the end of 1999 war aimed at ensuring security
