A new tough song from Shakira, in which the Colombian star mocks her former partner, Gerard Piqué, has recorded more than 63 million hits on YouTube in 24 hours, making her the new Latin song most followed in the history of the platform.
Shakira and Pique, who played football for Barcelona, Manchester United and the Spanish nationals, separated last year after more than a decade and had two children. The 35-year-old former defender has since begun a relationship with a 23-year-old woman, Clara Chía, wrote The Guardian.
In co-operation with the Argentina producer and DJ Bizarrap, Shakira sings: “I worth two 22-year-old”, adding: “You traded a Ferrari with a Tingo [Renault] /You traded a Rolex for a Casio”
In addition to critical references to Piqué and his new girlfriend, Shakira mentions her mother-in-law, the media and her continuing problems with Spanish income authorities, who claim she has not paid 14.5m euros in taxes.
You left me with my mother-in-law, the press on the door, and a tax debt”, she sings.
By Friday morning, the song had collected more than 63.5 million hits on YouTube, becoming the most popular new Latin music video in the history of the platform and making titles worldwide.
