The move is seen as a signal to the West that Russia will not withdraw from the war in Ukraine.

Russia, China, and the United States compete for the development of hypersonic weapons, which are seen as a way to gain advantage over enemies, because these types of weapons have five times the speed of sound, and they also have great maneuvering skills.

In a video conference with Russia's Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and Commander Igor Crokhmal of the ship called “The Soviet Union's Admiral Flot, Gorshkov”, Putin said this ship is equipped with hypersonic weapons, Zircon.

This time around, the ship is equipped with the last Zircon” missile system, Putin said.

“I am sure that such a powerful weapon will protect Russia from possible external threats”, he added.

Like this weapon, according to Putin, “does not have” in the world.

After more than 10 months since Putin sent his troops to Ukraine, there was no indication that the war that has killed tens of thousands of people will soon end.

Russia has also used his personalist Kinzhal missiles in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the Zircon missile is considered the most powerful weapon in Russia's hypersonic arsenal. Russian Defence Minister said the Gorskov ship will sail to the Atlantic and Indian Ocean, as well as the Mediterranean Sea.

This ship, equipped with Zircon, is able to launch powerful attacks against enemies at sea and land”, Shoigu said.

According to him, these missiles can avoid any air defence system. He said the mission's main task is to combat threats against Russia and maintain “regional peace and shared stability with friendly states”.
