Paris Saint-Germain has decided not to allow the winner of the World Cup, Lionel Messin, to pre-empt the trophy at the “Park of Princes” Stadium, due to a possibility of an inadequate response to fans, as it was the Messiah and his Argentian national, who defeated France in the finals.
The PSG today will face Angers in League 1, in what will be the first Messian match since Qatar's 2022 final, December 18th.
The French newspaper Le Parisien has reported that the club will not allow the Argentinian captain to parade with the World Cup trophy on their grounds often the custom for winners amid fears of collapse and possible attacks by Parisian fans.
Moreover, Le Parisien writes that the club thinks the honour guard given to the Messes after his return to the exercise was a sufficient welcome for the World Cup winner, citing also the three-week-and-a-half gap as another contributing factor.
