As a result of torrential rains, floods have mostly affected municipalities: Skenderaj, South Mitrovica and Istog, damaging family economies, businesses, agricultural culture and road infrastructure.
Officials from these municipalities have said on Friday the situation is calmer.
Alban Shala, director of the Directorate for Public Services in the county of Skyright, has told Radio Free Europe that the water level on the Klina River has fallen and all roads are perishable.
“The situation is stable, the water level is starting to fall, the risk at the moment there is no. However, material damage is large”.
Even in the South Mitrovica municipality, the situation is calm, Bahtir Maxhuni, director of the Directorate for Security and Emergency Emergency in this municipality, has said.
“On the Lushta River has fallen to the right amount, while on the Iber River the level is dropping to small size”, Maxhuni said of Radio Free Europe.
Gevat Demaj director for Emergency, Protection and Rescue in Istog has said the situation is under control even in this municipality.
Flooding has also been reported in municipalities in northern Kosovo, especially in Zvecan and Zubin Potok.
Emergency Management Agency has said through a Facebook post that its officials are co-operating with municipal management for the situation on the ground.
Heavy rains often cause floods in Kosovo.
It is estimated that damage to river beds as a result of illegal exhumations of gravel contributes greatly to the flood of areas.
