The European Parliament has approved the resolution to harmonise the European Union's foreign policy and security policy, and a part of this document refers to Serbia, addressing the position that Belgrade should comply with foreign policy with that of the EU. In the report, The EP for the second time calls on the EU to halt negotiations with Serbia until it meets some essential requirements, and most importantly it is considered full harmonisation of Serbia's foreign policy with the European Union.
Out of 632 deputies, 357 voted for the resolution, 180 opposed 95 abstained.
The European Parliament has stressed the importance of full harmonisation with sanctioning policy against third countries. There Serbia is criticised for its low level of harmonisation with EU foreign policy, especially with response to Ukraine's Russian occupation.
The European Parliament has said the other negotiating chapters should be opened only when Serbia holds to pledges for reform in democracy, rule of law and fully harmonise foreign policy with the EU.
Europeans in the resolution have remembered that Serbia “as a state trying to integrate, must adhere to common values”.
