A series of satellite images, from Planet Labs and the European Space Agency, show a fire and smoke near the Zaporizija nuclear power plant in Enerhodar, Ukraine.
Three satellite images taken on August 24th at 10:39 in the morning, 11:30 and 11:35 at the local time show a rare successive view of a fire growing south of the plant and smoke rising from a ash hole located in the north part of the complex.
Zaporizhja nuclear power plant is viewed at 11:30 local time on 24 August, writes CNN.
The plant, which is held by Russian forces, was completely cut off from the power grid for the first time in its history Thursday, according to the country's nuclear operator.
The complex was shut down due to fires in nearby ash pits, causing the last remaining power line linked to Ukraine's power grid to be cut twice, Energoatom said in a statement.
