UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres called for international inspectors to be given access to the Zaporija nuclear power plant.

That call on August 8th by the UN chief comes after Ukraine and Russia exchanged accusations concerning promotions over the weekend at the biggest nuclear power plant in Europe.

Any attack on the nuclear plant would be an act of suicide”, Guterres said during a conference in Japan.

Guterres made these comments after a weekend visit to Hiroshima, where he delivered a speech on the 77th anniversary of the world's first nuclear bomb attack.

Ukraine said the new Russian grants, which began on August 6th, have damaged three radiation sensors and a worker at the Zaporija nuclear power plant, which was the second day of promotions on the plant, has been injured.

Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky has accused Russia of committing <x0 nuclear terror”, which according to him should mean more international sanctions, this time in Moscow's nuclear sector.

There is no state in the world that can feel secure when a terrorist state attacks a” nuclear power plant, Zelensky said during a TV address on August 7th.

The Zaporigja nuclear plant is located some 200 miles [200 km] northwest of Marioupolis, controlled by the Russians. This plant has been under Russian supervision since Moscow troops took control at the start of the war. But the Ukrainian staff has continued to operate with the plant.

Authorities installed by Russia in this area have said Russian forces have hit the grenade launcher plant, damaging administrative buildings and an area near a depot. The Russian Embassy in Washington has also issued a statement blaming Ukrainian “nationalists” for the damage.

Wars in Zaporija have alarmed the world.

Guterres said the International Nuclear Energy Agency (IAEA) should have access to this plant.

“We fully support A The IEA in their efforts on creating conditions for stabilising the” plant, Guterres said.

The IAEA chief, Rafael Mariano Grossi, warned on August 6th that the recent attacks “pose a very real threat to nuclear disaster”.

Grossi called on all sides in the conflict to show “content” near this nuclear power plant. / REL
