Bozidar Delic, who commanded the 549 Motorised Brigade of the Yugoslav Army, which was involved in the mass killings of civilians in Kosovo, has been elected as one of the seven new deputy speakers of Serbia's Parliament.
The retired Yugoslav Army general, who was involved in the most notorious attacks on Kosovo villages during 1999, has been elected as deputy head of Serbia's Parliament, broadcast Telegrafi.
Delic was nominated for this post from Serbian right-hand “Hope” (NADA). He is one of three people from the opposition who has been elected as deputy chairman by 197 votes.
In 2013, a nongovernmental organisation had published a file containing documents for eight military offensives, including that of the Yugoslav Army's 549 motorised brigade, which had operated in Kosovo villages in March and April 1999, resulting in the murder of 885 civilians.
In the attacks on May and Korea villages during April 27th 1999, police officers, soldiers and Serb paramilitaries of this brigade had killed at least 377 civilians, 36 of whom were under 18 years old.
Interestingly, Delic has never denied the fact that he was a brigade commander, but has flatly rejected accusations of war crimes.
