The country's president, Vjosa Osmani, has called on European Union member states to urgently implement the decision on visa liberalisation for Kosovars.
Osmani says accelerating the enlargement process for the democratic countries of the Western Balkans is a must as he congratulates Albania and Northern Macedonia for opening EU membership negotiations.
<x0) Congratulations on Albania and North Macedonia for a step closer to the EU. At this crucial time, accelerating the enlargement process for the democratic countries of the Western Balkans is a must! We call on EU member states to urgently implement the delayed visa release decision for our citizens”, Osmani wrote on Twitter.
What does opening negotiations with the EU mean?
Opening negotiations means a technical process that will begin with full control of Albania's state administration and all Albanian legislation to comply with European Union legislation.
The European Commission will launch teams that will join the state administration in Albania, where it will control its laws and implementation.
With these laws coming together will open and close chapters with success or failure, totaling 35.
The first chapter with which the negotiation process will begin is that of basic human rights and then there will be chapters for reform in justice, fighting corruption, media freedom, etc.
Then there will be chapters and economic and commercial ties. This process will be closely followed by the European Commission. This process is expected to last several years. /Periscope.
