According to the decision, from July 20th, the export of wheat, flour, wood and diapers is prohibited, while customs duties on household oil are lifted by the end of the year.
The Government's decision comes after information on doubling the price of heating wood to up to 80 euros per cubic metre, and heating diapers -- from 200 euros to about 400 euros per tonne.
The decision has been made to avoid misappropriations on the part of businessmen and producers, and to protect local production, market and citizens”, says the Ministry of Economy report, which has proposed measures approved by the Government.
According to the announcement, it is similar with wheat, flour and other wheat products, with the aim of preventing misuse in the local market.
The grain export ban will be worth it by year's end.
However, the government has not yet come up with measures for protection from the potential energy crisis.
Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Fatmir Bytyqi said he believes that the government is managing to cope with the global crisis and protect households, while warning measures in the energy sector as well.
We'll soon come up with concrete measures. Two months ago we called for saving measures, but unfortunately we can say appeals were not adequate or produced any results. This is true in all other countries. We must do everything to survive this serious crisis”, Bytyqi has declared.
It is not yet known who will warm Skopje residents this winter, as the EUG (Balkan Energy Group) lost all licenses.
The government says efforts are under way for the North Macedonia Electronic (ESM) to take over the operation.
The North Macedonia government has already adopted measures for protection from the crisis, preventing flour exports, and in particular oil, after doubling the price in retail sales, but measures have failed to stop price hikes.
Such measures have also been undertaken for fuel, but the price continues to be corrected on daily grounds, depending on moving to world markets. / REL
