The United States and its Western allies can send Ukraine up to 30 missile systems with multiple concessions that have been very effective so far in destroying Russian weapons depots, a senior US congresswoman said.
Adam Smith, chairman of the House of Representatives Armed Services Committee, told Radio Free Europe that the current goal is to increase the number of missile systems deployed in Ukraine by 25-30.
Smith made comments during a visit to Kiev. He is one of several members of Congress who met with Ukrainian leader Voldymyr Zelensy on July 23rd.
Ukraine has demanded at least 50 of the highly precise missile systems, including M270 missile systems, the multiple missile system (MLRS) and high-speed tax systems M142 (HIMARS).
Systems can launch missiles far behind enemy lines by a few meters of accuracy, making them very effective.
US has already delivered a number of systems H IMARS in Ukraine and have recently approved sending four others. Western allies have delivered several M270 to Ukraine.
Smith did not provide a time frame for the delivery of remaining systems. / REL
