Meta: I believe in the innocence of KLA leaders, this is a matter of time

Albania's outgoing president, Ilir Meta, has spoken on several actual issues in Kosovo.

In RTK, the open Balkans, President Meta praised it as a non-serious and unnecessary initiative.

The “is not just a classic rejection from Kosovo, I think it's an over-in need of, unnecessary and unclear initiative as long as it has changed its name three times to come to the open Balkans that it has now. But so we have other much more solid initiatives that we need to focus on, which also have a clear Albanian European leader, they have financial institutions in support of them like the Berlin Process, and they're all equal and it's not the problem that there are simply reserves for Kosovo, on this issue I think that this is an attempt to portit Kosovo internationally as a problem in the Balkans and to specific others who do not deserve it. Because the reserve includes the president of Macedonia, the president of Montenegro, no doubt the one in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Then who needs an initiative that creates divisions or seeks to put Kosovo ahead of the fact. This initiative has not been discussed either with Albania's president or with the opposition I know of” President Meta said.

As far as the Special Court and the maintenance of KLA leaders there are concerned, President Meta praised that since creation it was an unfair compromise and their innocence is questionable and a matter of time.

“I wouldn't want to get too much into this issue, since it was created, it was a compromise that made Kosovo and its institutions, and it's making our friends and allies better in supporting Kosovo's freedom and independence. What is important is to do everything like Kosovo and like Albania, as two friendly countries to support former Kosovo leaders and the Kosovo Liberation Army in this situation, providing all necessary guarantees for this process to be pursued in a more democratic manner, as it concerns proven public personalities, confirmed that they have no reason to flee justice and why not be tried in other circumstances or circumstances. But what I want to stress is that I have full confidence in their innocence and this will be a matter of times”, he said.
