The terrible murder of Naira Ashraf outside her university in northern Egypt by Mohammed Adel, 21, shocked the community last month.
Adel was found guilty of the event and sentenced to death on July 6th.
But in an unusual move, the Egyptian court has asked parliament to allow live television broadcasting of execution to discourage such crimes from occurring in the future.
The verdict still has opportunities to appeal, and defence lawyer Farid El-Deeb said he will do it soon.
El-Deeb is one of Egypt's best-known lawyers, while serving as defence minister of the former president Hosni Mubarak.
