As citizens of Kosovo, we must prioritize local products by becoming part of the finalisation of the value chain through their purchase, Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said on Saturday from the “International Domat Festival” in Mamusa, which the municipality has called an example for agricultural activity.
“Buke, cheese and tomatoes, is this one of the most frequent meals in our soups today, especially when we have our fresh, tasty local tomato. More out of homesickness than poverty, tomato has also been a source of nourishing values, where as children and hunger did not separate us from the game. Today as the government of the Republic of Kosovo through support programmes, we have increased support for vegetables, whether in greenhouses or in open fields, through financial support under the direct payment programme or subsidies”, he said, according to the Government's announcement.
Kurti has said the government aims to improve the trade balance to import vegetables. He added that agriculture is a great potential for economic development. According to Kurti, the government he is leading has shown that it is prioritizing this sector “in addition to increasing the agriculture budget this year for the first time covering the value of the oil excise with 54 euros per hectares, for any agricultural culture including vegetables”.
We help our farmer. The farmer, in turn, increases his production quality. So the economy grows, the welfare of the citizen rises and the state is strengthened”, Kurti said.
