Montenegro's Prime Minister, Dritan Abazovic, has today held a telephone conversation with Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelensky. The latter, according to the Montenegrin government's announcement on Twitter, has sent the invitation to Prime Minister Abazovic to visit “as early as” to the Ukrainian capital, Kiev.
According to the announcement, Abazovic said he hopes Ukraine will receive EU membership candidate status and said it will help Montenegro with the membership process.
“We hope that it will receive candidate status for EU membership and as leaders in the negotiations process is ready to provide the necessary expert and political assistance”.
With a statement for the conversation, Zelensky, who also thanked the Balkan nation for sticking to Ukraine at this time of war.
“Pata a conversation with Montenegrin Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic about the progress of our countries on the road to the EU. I am grateful for full support for Ukraine on both issues, this [for EU integration] and that sanctions. We made plans for future bilateral and regional co-operation”, Zelensky wrote.
