For the first time in two years in the pandemic, tourism figures were exceeded during 2019. According to INSTAT from January to May, 1.6 million foreign citizens have entered Albania, up from 1.5 million in the same period in 2019, considered the most successful tourist year. Over 1.6 million [...]
Over 1.6 million foreign citizens have entered Albania in the first five months of this year, bringing an increase of 54.8% in proportion to the same period last year.
The number of foreign citizens breaking into our country, for the first time since the start of the pandemic, is on the rise even in relation to 2019, as more than 1.5 million foreign citizens entered Albania that year's 5-month. On the other hand, the number of exits from the country, more than 2 million Albanians, has increased in 5 months.
Despite the rise in the number of Albanians leaving the country, the Balkan Barometer for 2022 says 60% of respondents have responded that they cannot afford spending a week off a year, which is the highest percentage in Rajon. This figure is on the rise with report last year, as 2021 was 39% of respondents enduring a week's vacation.
The impact on this growth of movements has given the removal of restrictions imposed on borders due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But removing obstacles is also lowering patriotic tourism. I NSTAT reports that in this five month's highest entry in Albania, there were Greece, up 5.6 times in proportion to last year, while Kosovo's entry has had the lowest growth of 9.5 %.
In addition to this lower growth from Kosovo, Kosovars are still in first place for the highest number of foreign citizens to have entered our country by over 575 thousand, followed by Northern Macedonia with 212 thousand and Montenegro with over 165 thousand entrances.
