According to foreign media Ukrainians who will be equipped with Russian passports will be considered Russian citizens, said Vladimir Rogov, a Russian official for the Russian media Rossia-24.
According to him, over 70 thousand Ukrainians have applied for Russian passports in the town of Zaporizya.
A month ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin simplified the application procedures for Russian passports to Ukrainian citizens, thus luring Ukrainians to change citizenship.
Moscow has distributed relevant documents to several other occupied territories and has introduced rubles as its currency.
Ukrainian authorities accuse invading forces of forcing residents to gain Russian citizenship and fear that annexing occupied territories is inevitable.
Meanwhile, Kiev estimates that about 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed since Russia invaded the country on 24 February, according to a Ukrainian President Olexey Arestovich adviser.
It is noteworthy that neither Ukraine nor Russia has provided detailed information about the exact number of military troops and civilians each country has lost from the war. /abcnews.al/
