According to the PSD, this council will be in the political control of Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
Contrary to this, at the entrance of the KKP, activists have placed a plaque with the inscription “Prosecutorial Council of Kurti”.
This council will soon be in Kurti's political control of power. This serious violation of the independence of this institution is at the expense of human fundamental rights. Caping the prosecutorial system that was made yesterday through legislative changes in the Kosovo Assembly will enable power to carry out spectacular arrests and branding any opponent of this political system”, he said.
According to him, remarks by the Venice Commission and civil society are linked to concerns about political control.
With these changes, decision-making on important issues such as the election of the prosecutor, prosecutors' chief prosecutor, as well as disciplinary cases of prosecutors will be conditioned by non-prosecutors to this council. The second-read amendment seals the influence of non-prosecutor members against prosecutorial members on this council. Members not prosecutors who will be delegated by power will have a kind of veto on the will that the members of this council will have”, he said.
Otherwise, the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPK) yesterday has expressed concern over the passage of the Second Law to the KKP, saying it seriously violates the independence of this constitutional body.
