New NATO Strategy Adopted, Even Western Balkans Named

This new strategy also mentions the Western Balkan region, which includes the Republic of Kosovo. As stated in the document, for NATO is of strategic importance.
It is also said that NATO will support the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of the countries interested in the Western Balkans region, and will also help these countries cope with threats and challenges, and in increasing sustainability of the third-party promotional interventions, Express reports.
“The Western Balkans and the Black Sea region are of strategic importance to the Alliance. We will continue to support the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of countries interested in these regions. We will increase efforts to strengthen their capabilities to address the distinct threats and challenges facing them and increase their stability towards the interventions and mountain obligations of third parties. We will work with partners to address common security threats and challenges in areas of strategic interest to the Alliance, including the Middle East and North Africa and the Sahel regions. Indo-peacemaker is important for NATO, given that developments in that region can directly affect Euro-Atlantic security. We will strengthen dialogue and co-operation with the new and existing partners in the Indo-peaceroom to address inter-regional challenges and common security interests”, the document says.
