I do not expect Russia to achieve all its goals in this war, but at the same time it does not seem that the West will not achieve all its goals”, he told the Anadolu Agency, Periscope follows.
He said he does not expect the war in Ukraine to jeopardise Balkan security.
The Messiah rejected speculation that a war could be spread to other regions, saying: the war in Ukraine is impossible to spread to another region, especially in the Balkans”.
“There are those who are disappointed with the results of the war that has occurred in the territories of the former Yugoslavia and want there to be a change of borders again. These are the leaders of Republika Srpska (one of the two federal entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina), Mesic said.
These people think that borders can be changed today, but the boundaries have not changed even after the death of 100,000 people. Who would think of changing borders in the Balkans again? It's completely impossible”, he said.
Asked whether Northern Macedonia and Albania will get a date for talks on their EU entry, Mesic said the European integration process should be accelerated.
On the other hand, he said the war in Ukraine could speed up the entry of the entire Western Balkans into the EU. /Periscopi/
