Prime Minister Albin Kurti at the Bratislava forum “Globsek 2022” has sought help from America and the European Union in fighting cross-border mafias that exist in the Balkans and beyond, Periscopi broadcast.
We've had a past government that's called for a quick deal, a quick adjustment that hasn't been so well over”, Kurti said in Bratislava.
The “that I am stressing, however, is not to favour political stability against democratic reforms. The US and the EU can co-operate in that sense. In all, I believe that rule of law, fighting organised crime that is cross-border, there is one thing called the Balkan mafia, all must co-operate, and we need the help of the EU and the US to fight it and we need countries with democracy, where the opposition can win”.
Kurti said the EU should do more in strengthening social welfare and justice, and stressed that NATO is as important in this century as it was in the past century.
I've been in opposition for many years and I've won the election. Next time someone else can win. We're going to have to have European values assisted by the EU, but they have to grow inside, and in that sense the EU has a lot to do to act in the sense of reinforcement of a continental state of prosperity, because social justice is very important, antifascism, because there has been a kind of alignment with protophisticist forces in the EU, and then we need NATO in the 21st century no less than in the past”
