The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPK) has expressed concern over the second reading of the KKP Law in the Kosovo Assembly.
The Prosecutorial Council through this statement to the media has said that this law seriously violates the independence of this constitutional body.
On the other hand, the KKP has stated that it has consistently made its contribution to the Ministry of Justice's working groups and to the Kosovo Assembly, where it has come up with concrete proposals, but which were never taken into account by the Ministry of Justice, respectively, by the relevant Kosovo Assembly Commission.
“The KKP considers that voting on this law thus seriously violates the independence of this constitutional body. Furthermore, the content of this law will be unable to functioning the prosecutorial system and make it easily influenced by politics”, the media statement said.
Because this Law violates the constitutional mandate of Council members, the Council announces that apart from following all legal ways to counter the content of this law, also no Council member will submit to anti-unconstitutional and anti-legal requirements that are also against international standards, but also against the two recommendations provided by the Venice Commission”.
Meanwhile, Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu has thanked the deputies of the Republic of Kosovo for adopting the Second Bill for the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council.
The adoption of this bill paves the way for major reforms in the justice system”, it has written.
