In an interview for ABC News Albania journalist Linda Karadaku, Hill said he was in Ohrid precisely to support the project for the Open Balkans “”, as according to him it is an original project of co-operation among countries in the region.
“I am here to support this project, as I believe that the Open “Balkan” is an original co-operation project and very valuable for the respective” countries, the US ambassador to Belgrade said.
Asked by the journalist Karadaku about the statement made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, that the “Open Balkans is a Serbian initiative and that he supports it, Hill said it is a sarcastic and malicious statement.
According to him Lavrov is not a supporter of Open “Balkan”, his statement expresses negative will.
I don't think he supports the “Open Balkans”, even I think his statement to support the “Open Balkans” was sarcastic and negative. So I don't believe he's a supporter of the “Balkan Open”, Ambassador Hill said.
