EU spokesman cites the 2011 and 2016 agreements: Kosovo has the right to remove plates “KM”

EU spokesman Peter Stano said Brussels was informed this week, but had not consulted the Kosovo Government's plans dealing with plates and freedom of movement on Kosovo territory. “After agreements from the dialogue on the freedom of movement of 2011 and 2016, Kosovo has [...]
Kosovo has the right to gradually remove KM plates (which Serbia releases). Agreements are clear that only Kosovo license plates issued by Kosovo” are used, Stano noted, reports Eruanews Serbia, He broadcasts thegraphy.
He adds that it is important to give sufficient time to implement this plan, and to prepare and apply in close consultation with citizens and in line with good European practices.
The freedom of movement is the cornerstone of the European Union. We expect Kosovo and Serbia to promote freedom of movement in the region and act constructively in this direction and not present any unreasonable obstacles that would limit freedom of movement”, Stano said.
On behalf of the EU, he reiterated the call to both sides to exploit EU-led dialogue as a platform to resolve all outstanding issues, including those related to freedom of movement and vehicle plates.
“The EU expects Kosovo and Serbia to cultivate a favourable environment for reconciliation, regional stability and co-operation for the benefit of their citizens. This is the key to achieving a legally binding comprehensive agreement on the normalisation of their relations, on which the parties must now focus fully”, Stano concluded.
Kosovo's government on Wednesday approved the decision on the possibility of reregistering cars with city license plates in Kosovo ʹ which releases Serbia's authorities in RKS (Kosovo Republic).
It's about cars with PR plates (Pristina), GL (Gilan), PZ (Prizren), KM (Kosovo Mitrovica) and so on.
In the Kosovo Government's statement, issued 29 June, it is clear that reregistering these cars will begin on August 1st and last until September 30th.
The decision imposes the Ministry of Internal Affairs to take all necessary actions and measures in order to realise this process”, the statement said.
It also points out that reregistering cars with the plates mentioned will not be possible after the deadline.
