Mesic said that distant states that do not know about Kosovo, and do not recognise it as a state, must explain history and why it should gain full recognition.
Mesic made these comments at the Balkan Leadership Conference “Peace, Security and Development in the Western Balkans”, the Universal Peace Federation.
“History has shown hundreds of times that wars have no winners and peace there are no losers, so I believe that you all share with me such a message, that all the forces that are for peace and take into account that are provoked by what colleague Moses said there are still those who have recognised Kosovo, but attract recognition, but those who have not recognised Kosovo, those are the states that are distant, they don't even know what Serbia, Croatia, Kosovo, they want Yugoslavia, they want TTO, therefore these are faraway countries and therefore these policies are powerful to impose or to harm that's real harm. Kosovo is reality and Kosovo must be recognised”, Mesic said during his speech.
He said the European issue depends on the European Union's ability to impose peace.
“Today the European issue depends on the ability of the European Union to initiate policies to impose peace together with the UN. It also depends on stability in our region, which some analysts see as an area or space where conflicts from Ukraine can open up. I do not believe in such a development of events, but there is a certain danger, taking into account the geopolitical ideas of Republika Srpska leaders in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the future of Bosnia”, the former Croatian president said away. / KP
