Health officials warn that all, regardless of sexual orientation, are endangered by infection, and anyone in close contact with an infected person shared clothing or bed.
The World Health Organization reported yesterday that in more than 20 countries that had not previously reported monkey linen, 780 cases have now been recorded - an increase of about 200 percent compared with the end of May.
So far, no deaths have been reported outside Africa.
This year, more than 1,400 cases of monkey oak and 63 deaths have been recorded in the world in countries where the disease is vasmic, such as Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Congo, and Nigeria, according to data by African Centers for Disease Prevention and Control.
