MPs voted between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. Johnson won the confidence of his party colleagues.
Johnson was backed by 211 deputies, while against him were 148 deputies.
Boris Johnson received 58.8% of the conservative Party's support and 41.2% opposed the current leadership. All conservative deputies voted.
The result is lower than 63% that Theresa May received during her leadership challenge in 2018, the BBC notes.
Johnson, prime minister since 2019, is under mounting pressure following reports of alcoholic celebrations from political leadership at a time when the rest of the country was under austerity measures imposed on the COVID-19 pandemic.
A number of conservatives have expressed concern over whether 57-year-old Johnson has lost authority to run the country after threatened by recession, rising food and fuel prices and strikes in London.
