The Pristina Community Urbanism Directorate today has made the decision on construction permits for central mosque in the capital.
According to the decision, dated June 13th, the Islamic Community is allowed to build the “Central Gen1> complex in Pristina.
“I THE researchers, Kosovo's Islamic Community Mosque construction at the Dardania Lagen in Pristina, are being launched under the Pristina Municipal Development Plan”, the Pristina municipality's decision says.
News of this permit for Telegrafi has confirmed the spokesman for the Islamic Community of Kosovo, Ahmet Sadriu.
“Yes, the truth is, today final permission has been given to build the Central mosque”, Sadriu has declared in response to Telegrafi.
Construction of this large mosque has been the requirement of the Islamic Community of Kosovo (BIK) since the end of the war, with the argument, that there is no room in existing mosques for the forgiveness of Muslim believers.
The Islamic Community demanded that the Great Mosque be built in downtown Pristina, but the Pristina municipality had difficulty finding location.
After much debate and negotiations that have lasted for years, the Pristina municipality and BIK agreed that the mosque will be built in the Dardania neighbourhood, at the Kosovo Telecom square.
The mosque's cornerstone is located in 2012, but since then until the start of the works, there has been difficulties in implementing the project by BIK.
