46 people died in a US truck, suspected of immigrants

At least 46 people, believed to be immigrants, were found dead in an abandoned truck on the outskirts of San Antonio, Texas, U.S.A.

A fireman official said 16 people, including four children, had also been sent to the hospital.

San Antonio, which is 250km from the US-American border, is a major transit route for human smugglers.

Traffickingrs of human beings often use trucks to transport undocumented immigrants, dating them to remote areas after they manage to cross into the United States.

“They had families... and were trying to find a better life”, San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg said.

There is nothing less than a terrible human tragedy”.
