If the government does not want to hear the will of the Georgian people, we will show them the ire of the Georgian people as they have never seen before,” shouted a speaker in protest.
Protest organisers warned another mass rally on July 3rd.
We remember that at a summit in Brussels on Thursday, the EU declared Ukraine and Moldova as EU membership candidates, but not Georgia.
EU Council President Charles Michel had stated that the EU was also prepared in principle to grant Georgia candidate status. However, a series of reforms must still be implemented instead of that happening.
Garibashvili said his government wants to meet EU requirements in time “so that we can get candidate status as soon as possible”.
The country submitted an application to Brussels in early March.
