“Liberty must show that it serves people better than tyranny. Thus, freedom is won, and this is why this conference is important”, Zelensky said in a video talk at a rally organised by Poland and Sweden.
He noted that Ukraine, Europe and the whole world were “on the road to victory” at the meeting attended by European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leenen, and reiterated that Ukraine should receive candidate status “with rapid procedure” for membership in the European Union.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Schmihal, present in Barava, said Ukraine needs four things to gain weapons, sanctions, funds and a European perspective.
Polish Prime Minister Matthews Morawiecki called the Russian attack on Ukraine a genocide war and stressed that everything would be done to stop Russia and ensure Ukraine's victory.
He said Ukraine needs 12,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid a day, and currently receives only 3,000, that is why such donor conferences are necessary.
Last month, the International Donors' Conference in Warsaw completed the global campaign “Rigge for Ukraine”, which collected 9.1 billion euros to help the Ukrainian people, while the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development announced it would allocate an additional billion euros to displaced persons.
