The husband and wife are believed to have started from an airfield in Ballenstedt on Thursday, southwest of Berlin, Euronews writes.
Authorities in the state of Saxon-Anhalt said the couple were asked to land because of a forecast for a sudden change of weather.
“They appear to have been hit by a wind explosion that caused the pre-launch collapse and air vehicle crashed into a” field, police said Friday.
Germany's national weather service had warned that Western parts of the country could be involved in severe storms Friday, as well as potential tornadoes.
Schools in the western city of Kolnni were closed before noon to the students for time to return home safely before the weather changed.
So far, storms have stopped traffic, uprooted trees, and railway roads have been damaged.
A tornado hit the western German town of Lippstad, causing major damage, officials said Friday.
Meanwhile, the French government has also set up 17 departments in the Paris region and Hauts-de-French storm.
