A school that stood for more than a century, Lysychansk High School has been completely destroyed after being engulfed by fire yesterday after the promotions, said Sergey Gidai, head of the Luhansk region in Telegram.
High school survived two world wars and the battle for the city in 2014, “but was burned because of junk animals in 2022”, said senior Yana Honcharenko.
Honcharenko also described the high school as “under the 100 best schools in the country”.
The school was built in the late 19th century and is part of Lysychansk's Belgian architectural heritage.
Russia has shifted most of its focus to eastern Ukraine, following the withdrawal of its forces from the outskirts of Kiev, the BBC broadcast.
