De Riu says Italy “along with Quinti's other partners is on the line to encourage both sides to work constructively under the EU's ease, to reach a crucial agreement on stabilising the region and European perspective of both countries”.
The Italian ambassador has also spoken of the war in Ukraine, saying its expansion in the Western Balkans could be avoided if the European perspective becomes tangible to the countries of this region.
“In Kosovo's case it is necessary to overcome the growing frustration of local public opinion on the European integration process, even due to the lack of visa liberalisation for Kosovo citizens the only ones in the region who do not benefit from this measure despite the country has long achieved the parameters to get it”, he said.
