The United Education, Science and Culture Union continues to insist on their demands. They are seeking dialogue with Government, and if this does not happen within 15 days, they do not promise that in September the lesson will start, as there may be strikes.
The chairman of the United Trade Union of Education, Science and Culture, Benderman Jasharaj, has shown that the last chance to have a dialogue with Government is the legal mediator, who is obliged to send the Government a letter and insist on dialogue.
The truth is that day nobody from the government came out to communicate with us. We analyzed the situation and tried to figure out what to do with the response, and seeing that in the law on organising strikes, it was said that these actions that we've done so far are allowed but to go on a general strike, the last opportunity should be used and that the last opportunity is the legal mediator, who has the obligation and authorisation on behalf of the government's union to send a letter and then insist that the Government should sit down and negotiate with trade unions. If the government does not respond positively, then trade unions with the law on strikes earn the right to enter a general strike”, he has said.
Jasharaj points out that if they did not act with mediators, then under the law, the government would have been able to declare the strike illegal and take punitive steps against those who officially declared the strike.
A step that has given us hope is meeting the six deputies of the Vetevendosje Movement in the Kosovo Parliament, where Mr. Muja and others have listened to us more carefully, told us their ideas and promised us that the issues raised will be further debated by all the deputies of his party ... we are aware that Mr. Muja and the other MPs will keep their word, to engage because our fight is to have dialogue, between the two parties without having to go to protests and strikes because the worst of all that hurts us... it is aware that we are being punished by the strikes that he does not deserve, but that we are dealing with the wrong month, and that the students are going to get a better day's success, and that the students are going to get to get ahead of success.
Jasharaj has not ruled out the possibility of delaying the start of the new school year if he does not want this dialogue. According to him, the government must change its approach to union.
I believe June will pass with lessons and not with strikes, but it cannot promise students, parents and Governments that if they leave the dialogue again, then we will have a bad job, because we can't postpone deadlines anymore, September will then turn out like other years, with trouble, with calls for strikes. If the government doesn't use our goodwill in June, September cannot promise to find us in class... but the Government has to honour access to the union has also made known to our European trade unions, they have sent a letter to Kurti, telling him to negotiate with trade unions and offer elections”, Jasharaj said.
The SBASK chairman also added that they are not looking for anything impossible but to talk and decide for everyone's benefit.
