Authorities in Seoul said the missiles were launched in the space of less than an hour from Sunan area to Penjan.
The launch took place just a day after US President Joe Biden completed his visit aimed at empowering measures to counter North Korea.
Japan confirmed that at least two launchers took place on Wednesday, but admitted there might be more.
Japanese Defence Minister Nobuo Kish criticised the launch, saying they are unacceptable “”, adding that those “would jeopardise the peace, stability and security of Japan and the international community”.
