Mustafa goes against withdrawal from the Trust: The opposition has not found an adequate way

The Trust issue, rather than withdrawing money from the Trust, has become a topic of discussion on the political scene. This was due to the economic crisis, which was created due to price hikes, including rising prices of essential but electrical products. A political side, mainly opposition parties, like [...]
One side of politics, primarily opposition parties, such as the Democratic Party of Kosovo, the Democratic League of Kosovo and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, have supported another withdrawal of money from the Trust, the news writes.
While the other side, the ruling party -- the Vetevendosje Movement -- has opposed that idea.
This issue, has been the reason for a debate that has been made between these two poles, where today during the meeting of the Commission for Boards, Labour and Transition, there has been debate between opposition deputies and positions.
At the end of the meeting on this commission, the initiative has failed to pass that allows citizens to withdraw part of the money from the Trust. One of the “votes against” was exactly the VV's.
About this topic, news.net has contacted former Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa.
Mustafa in his proposal said that “Trusti is an investment for the future and is not saving today for tomorrow”.
“People save to make sure they retire when they can't work. They don't save for tomorrow. In that sense, Trust is an investment in the future by every employee. Once used the possibility of withdrawing vehicles from the Trust because of the pandemic, has been a serious situation, economic blockade”, Mustafa said of news.net.
He added, however, that the decision to withdraw money from the Trust relates to the government's guarantee to remunt citizens for the money they have withdrawn. So, according to Mustafa, if the government doesn't have the capacity for reimbursement then the attraction is problematic.
The decision to withdraw is related to government guarantees to restore the retirement money, which means it depends on whether the government has capacities to subsidise citizens' consumption. If the government doesn't have the capacity for reimbursement, the withdrawal is very problematic, because today it seems that we help citizens (when they work and have salaries whatever they are) and tomorrow when they retire they find that they have consumed their savings prematurely with political decisions of these deputies”, the former prime minister added.
He went on to say that even though he understands the opposition that is waging political war, however, Mustafa considers that the opposition has not found an adequate way to help citizens.
I understand the opposition developing political warfare, but I don't think they've found the most adequate way to help citizens by touching the Pension Trust. It will be very bad and dangerous practice to become policy with pension savings, whether by the Government or by the opposition”, Mustafa concluded.
We remember that long ago, Kosovo citizens have been given the opportunity to withdraw some of the money from the Trust. Something like that was done because of the economic crisis that was due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As for the initiative these days, the second withdrawal from the Trust, this issue will be sent to the Kosovo Parliament, where it will eventually be decided whether citizens will be allowed to withdraw another portion from their savings in the Trust.
