Messages to Decani Monastery are stopped, Rohde takes two other officials there

At the Decani Monastery, successive visits are under way until the Constitutional Court's decision has yet to be implemented.

Finally this monastery has been visited by diplomats of the states of QUINT.

Germany's ambassador to Kosovo, Joern Rohde, has again visited the monastery in Decani, and this time with him were several other guests.

German Ambassador was in the company of German Ambassador to Serbia Thomas Shielb, as well as Belgium's ambassador to Serbia, Koenrad Adam.

Ambassador Rohde visited this monastery even days earlier, and that day he was with other ambassadors of foreign states in Kosovo.

He had stated that the main reason for frequent visits is that Decani also has a political significance.

We visit “Decanin because he is part of the world's cultural heritage and he is a jewel of Kosovo in terms of historical cultural importance. Of course Decani also has political significance. Last Friday, Quinti's ambassadors have issued a statement in which we have repeatedly called for implementation of the 2016 Constitutional Court ruling. I have to say that since I've been here, now almost two years, this is the fifth statement that we've been due to Decanin”.

Rohde in an interview in Klan Kosova, further stressed that when it comes to a Constitutional Court decision, it must be implemented.

We just went there, maybe even to see the other ambassadors who haven't been there so far, what beauty this monastery has, but of course it was also a sign, that it doesn't only commit Quinti to implement that decision, so that this subject can be removed, because I as ambassador don't want to deal with the issue, if a manager should be given 24 acres of land. But it goes from that when it comes to a Constitutional Court decision, whether in Germany or Kosovo or in the US, that decision in a democratic state should be implemented”, Rohde has said.

Rohde has said it is not just the current government that is not implementing the Decani Monastery's decision.

I think it's not just the current government. Since 2016, Kosovo has had five governments that have not implemented this decision of Kosovo's highest court. That's not good and I hope this will happen soon. I always hear the reasons mentioned, a law from Milosevic's time, that's not good, but it's not legal reasoning. Or that the judges were not in order, but I've never seen evidence in this regard. Therefore, in a legal state, judicial decisions must be implemented”, he said.

The German ambassador says he does not believe this decision will condition Kosovo for membership in the Council of Europe.
