The old Kremlin ally told the Associated Press that Vladimir Putin is not interested in a war with NATO and called on the West to ensure that such a thing will not happen.
“Putin probably doesn't want a direct confrontation with NATO. Use this and do whatever it takes to keep this from happening. Otherwise, even if Putin does not wish, the military will react”, the Belarusian leader said.
Regarding the possibility of a Belarus attack on the West after his army announced some maneuvers that raised concerns in Ukraine, Lukashenko said his country does not want to threaten anyone.
We don't want to threaten anyone. We do not do that, and we will not do it in the future. Furthermore, we cannot threaten- we know who our opponent is, so we can start a kind of conflict or some kind of war this in the West is not at all the interest of the state of Belarus. So the West can sleep peacefully”, Lukashenko added. /Periscopi/
