Lajcak for the Open Balkans: EU backs any initiative that is inclusive

The EU's Emisar for the Balkans, which is also a facilitator for Kosovo-Serbia talks, Slovak Miroslav Lajcak, at a media conference ahead of the Southeast European Summit (SEE DEM), which is being held in Montenegro, declared that the war in Ukraine changed everything and brought consequences to all. [...]
The region is not alone. The EU is with you and helps you overcome the consequences of the war, whether it is in terms of economic or social influence. We have a plan on how to help Western Balkan countries”, Lajcak said.
He said the war in Ukraine, though tragic, has restored the enlargement process to the political agenda.
And it is important that countries in the region demonstrate these common values. The region cannot wait, it is clear to us”, Lajcak said
The only answer, he added, is to speed up the integration process.
Asked to comment on the Balkan Open Initiative, he said the EU supports any initiative that is comprehensive and based on European norms and values.
The process of forming a common regional market must be accelerated. Of course, we want existing initiatives to operate”, Lajcak said.
