First US Lady Visits Romania, Slovakia

Romania and Slovakia have accepted hundreds of thousands of refugees from Ukraine since Russia began its invasion on February 24th.
Mrs. Biden's trip follows the US House Speaker's trip to Kiev last weekend. Pelos met there with Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to the United Nations Agency for Refugees, nearly 5.5 million people have left Ukraine since the beginning of the occupation.
Over 3 million have settled in Poland. Romania, meanwhile, has accepted 817,000 and Slovakia nearly 372,000.
US President Joe Biden has proposed a large package worth $33 billion for Ukraine's weapons and support.
