Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has met with Dritan Abazovic for the first time, following Montenegro's prime minister's election. The meeting between the two prime ministers has been held in the margin of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Initially, according to the announcement, Prime Minister Kurti congratulated Prime Minister Abazovic on taking office, wishing for success in achieving results for citizens. However, not the topic of demarcation, an issue still discussed in Kosovo, but also Montenegro, has been opened between the two prime ministers.
Significantly, Abazovic, after the prime minister's election, has considered the issue closed to reopen the demarcation issue.
“Speaking about bilateral relations between the two countries, Prime Minister Kurti thanked Mr. Abazovic for close co-operation between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Montenegro in many areas. While stressing the will for empowering very good relations with Kosovo, Prime Minister Abazovic said policies that are optimistic and humble should be promoted, focusing on citizens”, the report said.
Similarly, the Prime Minister's Office reports that other issues were discussed, related to facilitating citizens' free movement, economic co-operation, and other topics.
“U discussed facilitating the free movement of citizens, as well as the potential of co-operation in the service of greater socioeconomic development and increased investment in both countries. Joint infrastructure projects linking Kosovo and Montenegro, such as the Decan-Plava and Peja-Rozhaje route, were singled out, which will draw citizens together and help both countries' economy. It was talked about deepening the co-operation and co-ordination of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo with the Government of the Republic of Montenegro, as well as the organisation of a G2G meeting between the two governments within this year”, it said in the end.
